Lizelle Lee breaks WBBL highest score record, joins elite list Ft. Smriti Mandhana

Lizelle Lee set a new record in the WBBL during the match between Perth Scorchers and Hobart Hurricanes on November 10.

Lizelle Lee set a new record in the history of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) with her fiery, unbeaten 150 runs. She became the highest individual scorer in the tournament on November 10. Lee achieved this feat in a match against the Perth Scorchers while playing for the Hobart Hurricanes.

Lizelle Lee’s record unbeaten 150 runs

At the Sydney Cricket Ground, the opener hit an amazing 150 runs in 75-ball against the Perth Scorchers, hitting 12 sixes and 12 fours. Grace Harris of the Brisbane Heat set the previous WBBL record of 136 last year, but Lee’s incredible knock beat it. Her innings is among the most memorable in WBBL history because of her 12 sixes, which also set a new record for the league.

Smriti Mandhana and Ashleigh Gardner both recorded impressive knocks of 114, with Mandhana remaining not out. Alyssa Healy rounds out the top five with a score of 112.

Perth Scorchers vs Hobart Hurricanes

Perth Scorchers skipper Sophie Devine won the toss and chose to bowl first. Early on, Chloe Ainsworth made an impact by dismissing Danielle Wyatt-Hodge and Nicola Carey in the third over. Despite the early setbacks, Lizelle Lee remained unfazed and launched two sixes off Ebony Hoskin. By the seventh over, she had raced to a half-century in just 29 balls. Lee continued her aggressive approach, effortlessly clearing the ropes. She brought up her century in style with a six over long-on on the first ball of the 14th over. Elyse Villani fell in the same over, but Heather Graham supported Lee, who relentlessly punished the Scorchers’ bowlers. In the final over, Lee faced the last three balls, smashing two consecutive sixes and taking a single to reach an unbeaten 150. Her brilliant innings powered Hobart Hurricanes to a commanding total of 203/3.
