During the BAN vs SL 3rd T20I, Wicketkeeper Litton Das executed a remarkable no-look run out of Dasun Shanaka on the final ball of Sri Lanka’s innings, reminiscent of similar feats by MS Dhoni in the past.
Shanaka, batting at No.7, swiftly accumulated 19 runs off just seven balls, aiming to maximize the team’s total. As the last ball, bowled by Mustafizur Rahman, was played towards long-on for a single, Shanaka and Sadeera Samarawickrama attempted a tight second run. Fielder Rishad Hossain’s throw to Das was slightly off target, requiring Litton to move swiftly across the off-stump.
Despite the challenging situation, Litton adeptly flicked the ball from behind his body without glancing at the stumps, resulting in a spectacular run out that caught Shanaka short of his crease. This dismissal left Sri Lanka at 174-7 at the end of their innings.
Litton’s skillful no-look run out echoed Dhoni’s iconic instances of executing similar dismissals in the past. Notably, Dhoni showcased this technique against New Zealand in 2016 and in the IPL last year against Adam Zampa.
