Mitchell Marsh missed a century in Melbourne Cricket Ground after playing a classy knock of 96 on Day 3 of the PAK vs AUS 2nd Test.
It seems that the Marsh family is cursed to not get a hundred at MCG as it is the third time that the Marsh kin are unable to reach a ton.
Shaun Marsh was run out in the 2014 Boxing Day Test while Geoff Marsh (Mitchell’s dad) was dismissed at 86 back in 1991.
“Shaun (Marsh) got run out for 99 and dad got 86 here. So Shaun’s technically still got me. But yeah, I guess it’s a little bit of history for us. Hopefully I get one more crack at it,” Mitchell Marsh joked after the end of Day 3.
Mitchell was batting at 96 just four runs shy from his century when Salman Ali Agha took a brilliant one-handed catch in Mir Hamza’s bowling, assuring another Marsh to miss a hundred here.
“Firstly, there’s a lot of voices in your head at 4/16. But I think it just comes back to being true to myself. Being clear of the role within this team and knowing how I play my best, to get on the counter-attack and be positive in that situation. For me it was just about getting myself in and then playing the way I have for the last six months.”
I guess a bit of Karma: Mitchell Marsh
“I think in his game a lot of people say it but you need a bit of luck sometimes, So, I had a bit of luck being dropped and I guess a bit of Karma with the one-handed screamer to get me out. So this game has a funny way of evening things up,” Mitchell concluded.
