Indian veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin continues to age like fine wine, consistently breaking records and solidifying his place among cricket’s legends. In his latest achievement, the Indian off-spinner surpassed West Indian pacer Courtney Walsh to become the 8th highest wicket-taker in Test cricket history.
Ashwin now has 520 wickets in red-ball cricket, surpassing Walsh’s 519 during the India vs Bangladesh 1st Test at his home ground, MA Chidambaram Stadium. In the second innings, Ashwin took a five-wicket haul and also contributed with the bat, scoring his 6th Test century.

Muttiah Muralitharan holds the record for the most wickets in Test cricket, with 800 scalps in 133 matches. Shane Warne is second with 708 wickets in 145 matches. India’s Anil Kumble is the fourth-highest wicket-taker, with 619 scalps.
