List of Royal Challengers Bengaluru captains in IPL history

From Rahul Dravid to Faf du Plessis, let us take a look at the captains of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL history.

Since the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have had several captains. Over their 17-year journey, a total of seven players have led the team. Faf du Plessis is the current RCB captain; however, according to reports, he could be replaced by KL Rahul before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) might release the wicketkeeper-batter. Either KL Rahul will be traded to RCB, or RCB will have to fight in the IPL auction to acquire him.

RCB captains overs the years

Indian icon Rahul Dravid captained the RCB team as they started their IPL campaign. In 14 games, he only managed to record 4 victories. The following year, Kevin Pietersen, a former English captain, assumed leadership. Only two of the six games he captained the team for were victories.

Next, Anil Kumble became leadership of the Bengaluru team. As the team’s captain for 35 games, he led the squad to 19 victories with a win percentage of 54.28, the greatest of any RCB captain. Daniel Vettori led the team for 28 games as well, scoring 15 runs during that time.

Virat Kholi also took the resposibility of captaining the team, he has won 66 matches with a win percentage of 46.15. The current skipper Faf du Plessis has a win percentage of 50 with 21 win and 21 losses.

Who will be RCB captain in IPL 2025

Faf du Plessis, having turned 40, is likely to retire from the tournament either this year or next. RCB needs a captain who can lead them for the next four years and help secure their first IPL title. KL Rahul, the former wicketkeeper for the team, could step in as captain, especially given his strong rapport with Virat Kohli.
