The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is set to commence with yet another exciting season. The anticipation of all the fans came to an end when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the first two-week schedule of the upcoming IPL, which will start on March 22. However, seven players have already been ruled out of the tournament due to injuries and other reasons. Let’s take a look at these seven players and the reasons behind their withdrawal from IPL 2024.

Mark Wood
English pacer Mark Wood has taken back his name from the tournament to manage his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup. The tournament will start just after IPL 2024 on June 2. LSG named Shamar Joseph his replacement.
Gus Atkinson
Kolkata Knight Riders had acquired Gus Atkinson at his base price of Rs 1 crore. He has not stated the reason behind his withdrawal. Sri Lankan speedster Dushmantha Chameera has been named as his replacement.
Jason Roy
Jason Roy pulled out from IPL 2024 due to personal reasons. Phil Salt has replaced him in KKR.
Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami has also been ruled out of the upcoming tournament as he has not yet recovered after his surgery. GT have not announced his replacement yet.
Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna will miss his second consecutive IPL season. He underwent surgery on February 23rd, 2024, for his left proximal quadriceps tendon and requires some time to recover.
Harry Brook
Citing personal reasons, Brook has withdrawn from the tournament. He is the fourth English player to pull out of the IPL after Mark Wood, Atkinson, and Roy. Brook was bought in the IPL 2024 Auction for 4 crores.
Lungisani Ngidi
Ngidi has been ruled out of IPL 2024 due to his injury. All-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk has been named as his replacement in the Delhi Capitals’ side.
Jason Behrendorff
Jason Behrendorff will miss the IPL 2024 due to his injury. MI announced English left-arm fast bowler Luke Wood as his replacement.
