Jay Shah, the current Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), will assume a new role after completing his tenure. Shah is set to join the ICC office and will become the fifth Indian to head the organization, starting from December 1. Remarkably, he will also be the youngest person ever to serve as ICC Chairperson.

Jagmohan Dalmiya was the first Indian to serve as ICC President from 1997 to 2000. Following him, Sharad Pawar held the position from 2010 to 2012. In 2016, the ICC abolished the presidency and introduced the role of chairman. Former CSK owner and BCCI President N. Srinivasan led the ICC as chairman, followed by Shashank Manohar, who served from 2015 to 2020.
According to ICC rules for the chairmanship election, the process involves 16 votes, with a simple majority of nine votes (51%) required to win. This is a shift from the previous rule, where a two-thirds majority was needed to secure victory.
