Latest IPL sensation Mayank Yadav sets IPL on fire, dreams of representing India in Tests

Lucknow Super Giants' pacer Mayank Yadav has disclosed his ambitions for representing his country, especially in the longest format of the game.

LSG’s Mayank Yadav has become the talk of the town in the ongoing IPL season. The young pacer has taken the league by storm, racking up two Player of the Match awards in as many games and consistently clocking speeds over 150 kmph.

Yadav, currently the fastest bowler in the tournament, recently opened up about his aspirations in an interview with Vikram Chandra from Editorji. While representing India in T20s holds appeal, Yadav’s true ambition lies in Test cricket. “I want to play Test cricket. I will play T20s too, but I want to play Test cricket for India. My focus will be on playing red-ball cricket for the country,,” he declared, highlighting his desire to contribute to the country’s rich cricketing history.

Mayank’s scorching speed: A combination of natural talent and hard work

Apart from this, the 21-year-old talent even offered a glimpse into the source of his blistering pace. He emphasized the importance of both natural ability and unwavering dedication. “I think it’s my natural ability that I can bowl this fast. It’s also my hard work.,” he explained. “There’s only so much you can do with natural ability, but you need to hone your skill and produce the goods with hard work.

The fiery pace bowler from Delhi, has already ripped through two strong batting lineup in Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. With his searing pace and remarkable discipline, he has hurried the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green.

The right-armer is currently the joint-second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024 so far, having racked up six wickets at an immaculate average of only 6.83. He will next seen in Match 21 against the Gujarat Titans on Sunday, April 7.
