The India Cricket Team has successfully completed their tour of Zimbabwe. Under new skipper Shubman Gill, the Men in Blue emerged victorious with a 4-1 win over their counterparts. But this also essentially means, it can be the last time out for VVS Laxman as the interim head for the Men in Blue.

Over the last couple of years, Laxman, the head of NCA as filled in place of Rahul Dravid. Laxman have often toured Ireland or other countries, where India have sent their second string team. Similarly, the India tour of Zimbabwe is also that. Following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, Rahul Dravid’s contract ran out as the head coach of the Indian Team.
While the BCCI continued conversations with Gautam Gambhir, it was Laxman who took over the reins of the team as Shubman Gill and Co toured Zimbabwe.
What happens Next?
It can quite possibly be the last outing for Laxman. The BCCI has appointed Gautam Gambhir as the new Team India head coach. Gambhir replaces Dravid and will travel with the team when Men in Blue travel to Sri Lanka. Gambhir back with the squad till 2027 means, Laxman won’t get a chance to be with Team India.
Currently, VVS Laxman’s contract is currently coming to an end. As reports, the BCCI is currently negotiating a contract with Laxman. It remains to be seen whether he will continue his role as the head of the NCA. On the other hand, the thing with Gambhir is different.
Gambhir doesn’t in break for coaches. This is unlike to Dravid. For Dravid, after hectic schedules, the former India head coach took short breaks. And this meant, Laxman got his fair chance in handling the reins of the team. But now things are different, it remains to be seen if Laxman gets his chance to continue with him.
