Lala Amarnath Biopic: Hirani’s dream project Lala Amarnath to star an A-list young Bollywood actor, Hirani very passionate about the film
Hirani has been thinking about making Lala Amarnath biopic since 2019. But due to some reasons, it got delayed for three years. Now, the Bollywood director is keen to start shooting for the Lala Amarnath biopic after wrapping up Dunki movie.
“Rajkumar Hirani has been planning a biopic on Lala Amarnath since 2019. It was one of the two scripts he had offered to SRK, but the superstar chose Dunki, and the biopic was put on hold for the time being. After Dunki’s release, Hirani wants to revive the Lala Amarnath biopic and has asked his writing team to finish the script by the year’s end. It’s a story Hirani has been very passionate about and is committed to starting work on it right after Dunki is out of his system.”
Hirani has not zeroed in on the actor to play Lala Amarnath, but it is expected an A-lister will get the special role. The biopic won’t be a typical sports biopic as Hirani is set to tell a story in his usual entertaining way, beautifully highlighting Lala’s career, his spasmodic brilliance, and his enduring influence on Indian cricket.
For the unreserved, Lala Amarnath was a gutsy all-rounder who made an impact with bat and ball for team India. Born on September 11, 1911, Lala played 24 Test matches for India where he scored one century and four centuries. As a bowler, Lala picked up 45 wickets with two five-wicket hauls. The legendary cricketer also played 186 domestic matches. Lala passed away in 2000 at the age of 88. There was a glimpse of his character in the 83 movie, wherein his son Mohinder portrayed the role of him.
