Kuldeep’s achievement is even more impressive considering that he had a few horror years in international cricket after the 2019 World Cup. He lost his place in the Indian team across formats and struggled to find his rhythm and confidence. He was also dropped by his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders and played only five matches in the last two seasons.

However, Kuldeep has redeemed himself with some stellar performances in the recent ODI and T20I series.

Kuldeep’s resurgence has also put him back in contention for a spot in India’s squad for the upcoming World Cup at home. He will face stiff competition from Chahal, who is also in good form.

Both Kuldeep and Chahal were part of India’s successful spin duo in limited-overs cricket before they were replaced by Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.

It remains to be seen if India will pick Kuldeep or opt for Chahal for the World Cup 2023.
