As the Indian touring party shifts to the Caribbean, spinners are expected to come into play. India’s best spinner, Kuldeep Yadav, has yet to play a game in the ongoing T20 World Cup, and it wouldn’t be shocking if he gets his first go in the India vs Afghanistan Super 8 match at the Kensington Oval.
No place for Siraj
But who to drop? All of India’s bowlers have been doing well. Mohammed Siraj is the bowler with the fewest wickets, but he’s been economical as well. According to former World Cup winners Kris Srikkanth and Piyush Chawla, Siraj will be the one who’ll miss out, and Kuldeep will take his place.
“If I were a captain, Kuldeep Yadav would have to play, and Siraj (Mohammed) could be dropped in his place. I think wrist spinners are match-winners. You saw Zampa (Adam) do it for Australia, and Shamsi (Tabraiz) did it for South Africa,” Srikkanth said.
“It’s going to be a toss-up between Arshdeep (Singh) and Siraj. The way Arshdeep bowled, I think Siraj will have to make way for Kuldeep,” Chawla agreed as well.
