Kolkata Weather Report: Unexpected showers on Friday has caused concerns for the upcoming IPL 2023 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants. The match is scheduled to begin at 7.30 PM on Saturday, 19th March 2023. The upcoming contest will be important especially for LSG as a victory would guarantee them a spot in the playoffs. Kolkata has been receiving rains for the last few days due to the cyclone Mocha. While the city was under alert, the cyclone has made the landfall earlier on Friday at Myanmar. While the weather had remained mostly sunny on Friday, several parts of the city experienced unexpected rainfall later in the evening.

Especially, the Eden Gardens was under covers due to the downpour on the eve of the match. Lucknow Super Giants posted a video of the rain on the team’s social media pages on Friday.

While the rain has made the teams and the fans worry about the upcoming clash, according to weather reports there is a mimimum chance of the match getting washed out. AccuWeather’s forecast predicts a partly cloudy evening and the weather is likely to remain the same throughout the night.

However the city is expected to receive rain late in the afternoon as Thunderstorms are predicted around 3-4 pm.

Kolkata Knight Riders hope to keep playoff hopes alive

The home team Kolkata Knight Riders have 12 points at the moment. They need to win the upcoming contest to still stay alive in the tournament. They would have to wait for other results to go their way to make it to the Top 4.

The team led by Nitish Rana defeated Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk in their previous contest. They will hope for a similar show against Lucknow in front of the home fans and end the campaign on a a high in Kolkata.

Lucknow Super Giants keen to continue winning momentum.

Lucknow Super Giants are almost into the playoffs with 15 points. They are currently at the third spot but need a win to confirm their place in the Top 4. The team led by Krunal Pandya won their last two matches and are eyeing hat-trick of wins.

It will also be a special game to LSG. Krunal Pandya and Co will don a new and special Green and Maroon jersey in their upcoming clash. It will be a tribute to Mohun Bagan, the famous football club from Kolkata. Sanjeev Goenka who is the owner for the Lucknow outfit is also a major stakeholder for the Kolkata football giants Mohun Bagan.
