Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL 2021 new schedule: Full fixtures table, timings, venues, live streaming, Squads – One of the three teams with multiple IPL titles, Kolkata Knight Riders have been part of the league since its beginning in 2008. Owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the Eden Gardens based outfit did not have the best of starts to the league, before a period of a renaissance under Gautam Gambhir, following yet another dull phase. Now led by England’s World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan, the franchise will be aiming for a new dawn in a new decade.
Kolkata Knight Riders did not finish in the playoff spots in any of their first three seasons in the IPL, finishing dead last in 2009. KKR made it to the playoffs for the first in 2011 after the arrival of Gambhir, and he led them to the title in his very second season at the franchise. What followed was a disappointing season as Kolkata narrowly avoided the wooden spoon, but they bounced back in spectacular fashion to clinch their second title in 2014. KKR made it to the playoffs in three of their next four seasons, but have struggled to do in the last two seasons, with Dinesh Karthik and now Eoin Morgan at the helm.
Before the suspension, Kolkata were a lowly seventh as their struggles continued, winning just two of their seven games in Phase 1. Eoin Morgan and Co. will hope to turn their backs on those results when they land in UAE and return to winning ways and end their playoff drought.
