KL Rahul’s captaincy disappointing: Srikkanth, Kaif call out LSG skipper after loss to DC

LSG captain KL Rahul's decision at the toss did not go down well with former India chief selector K Srikkanth and ex-India cricketer Kaif

They say tosses win matches and yet that wasn’t the case for KL Rahul and LSG on Tuesday. The Lucknow Super Giants skipper left many puzzled after opting to bowl first at the Arun Jaitley stadium. Rahul’s decision at the toss did not go down well with former India chief selector K Srikkanth and ex-India cricketer Mohammed Kaif.

Srikkanth, Kaif slam KL Rahul’s decision at toss

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth lashed out at Rahul for bowling first at the venue. He reckons that LSG were frightened after the thrashing at the hands of SRH in their previous game and hence decided to take up a conservative approach. Further, the ex-selector pulled up KL for giving multiple opportunities to fellow Karnataka batter Devdutt Padikkal despite a string of poor performances.

Kaif echoed the same arguments as Srikkanth, noting that KL Rahul as captain was disappointing. He claimed that it was a known fact that teams that win the toss in Delhi opt to bat first and go on to win the match.

Take the video analyst’s computer and put it away. They didn’t go with any numbers. 200 has not been chased here at all. I am telling you this year’s numbers. In all four matches, the team batting first has won. You won the toss and said you would field first,” Kaif said.

Who won DC vs LSG?

Delhi Capitals edged out Lucknow Super Giants by a narrow 19-run margin in a tense IPL 2024 encounter. It was the last match of the season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

Abhishek Porel’s fifty and Tristan Stubbs’ late hitting got DC to 208 runs. LSG’s chase started on a worst possible note as Ishant Sharma’s hurt them significantly. He took three wickets quickly. DC’s bowlers held their nerve in the death overs to secure a crucial win and stay in playoff contention.
