The cat is out of the bag finally. DC’s new recruit KL Rahul is all set to miss the team’s opening match against LSG in Vizag on Monday, a report in Cricbuzz confirmed. The 32-year-old seems to have gotten a special permission from the DC management, to skip the match, who is awaiting the birth of his first child.

KL Rahul Flies Back to Mumbai
It seems that Rahul has rushed back home to Mumbai, on Sunday night, upon getting to know that his wife Athiya Shetty is due any moment. But then, the stylish batter is expected to join the team before their next match vs SRH on March 30. “He has returned home to be with his wife, as the baby is expected any time. However, he is certain to be available for the team’s next game,” said a family friend of Rahul.
To Join Squad Before March 30
Rahul was bought by the DC franchise for INR 14 Cr, in a sort of a trade-off from LSG, where the latter went ahead and picked Rishabh Pant. Post that, the Bengaluru player had refused to take the captaincy of the DC side, and Axar Patel was then handed over the reigns of the team.
He was let go by the LSG franchise despite having a solid season in IPL 2024 where he scored 520 runs in 14 matches at an average of 37. Many believe that Rahul and LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka had a fallout after their public spat, post the LSG vs SRH match, where they had lost badly.
