Back at his homeground, KL Rahul smashed his second successive half-century of IPL 2025 to keep Delhi Capitals in the hunt against RCB. Chasing a daunting 164 on a tricky surface, Rahul used his experience to hold his side together, smashing a stunning fifty in the process. It was his first fifty vs RCB at his home ground, silencing the home team supporters in a measured knock.
Coming into bat at the fall of both openers, KL steadied the ship as Delhi Capitals looked to rebuild. He soon lost Abhishek Porel, but joined hands with skipper Axar Patel to drive his side back into control.
The 32-year-old held his end, knocking around for runs, putting the odd ball away for a boundary. Following Axar’s wicket, Rahul turned aggressor, hitting Liam Livingstone for a boundary and a six to reach another half-century. From a 37-ball half-century, Rahul turned on the beast mode. In the next 16 deliveries, Rahul hammered 43 runs.
With the threat of rain, Rahul took initiative, smashing three boundaries and a six off Josh Hazlewood. The former RCB star’s onslaught brought the required rate down below 9 to put his team in command.
Rahul’s fifty was his 43rd in his IPL career, making him joint 5th in the list for most 50+ scores. This was the 32-year-old’s highest score at his home ground, surpassing the 68 he scored for RCB.
