Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra suggested Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper KL Rahul to bat at the number four position in the upcoming IPL 2024. With the T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to take place right after IPL, the latter will be the audition stage for the Men in Blue.
‘KL Rahul should bat at no.4 in IPL 2024’
In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra opined that KL Rahul must play in the number 4 spot in order to get selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad. The former cricketer also analysed LSG’s IPL 2024 Auction strategy and the significant changes they made including parting ways with Gautam Gambhir and Andy Flower and replacing Justin Langer as the coach instead.
Despite the historical association with the opening slot, KL Rahul is determined to establish himself as a wicketkeeper-middle-order batsman. This strategic move is not confined to Tests alone; even for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, where he has predominantly opened, KL Rahul is expected to showcase his prowess in the middle order.
A source familiar with the developments shares insights to Cricbuzz, stating, “He wants to evolve himself as a middle-order batsman across formats and establish himself there.”
