KL Rahul on Saturday became only the 5th batter in the history of IPL to score 4000 runs as an opener. Rahul, who is leading the Lucknow Super Giants, completed the feat against Rajasthan Royals when he scored an unbeaten x runs.
The 32-year-old needed 35 runs against RR in the first half of the innings to accomplish the feat. As an opener, Rahul reached 4000 runs in just 94 innings.
KL Rahul has been in fine form in this IPL, scoring 354 runs in 9 matches at an average of over 45. His form has kept LSG in the hunt for a playoff spot, with Rahul’s team at 4th spot.
Rahul became only the 5th opener in IPL’s history to achieve this feat. Only Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle have the record to their name. However, KL Rahul reached 4000 runs in the least number of innings among the five.
