The usual suspects and the seniors of the India Cricket Team will join the Indian camp. With the focus mainly on Test Cricket, KL Rahul has asserted that the team’s approach in playing ODIs will change. A lot of young players are vying for their spot in the team. KL made it clear that the youngsters should be given time as they can’t expect them to play as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli did in the World Cup.
It is safe to say that the IND vs SA ODI series is going to be a mere formality as ODIs now holds very little importance. The same can be seen in India’s ODI squad. A lot of youngster are awaiting their maiden chance to feature for the Men in Blue.
“It will be too soon . I don’t think a lot will change in terms of how we want to play ODIs, but can’t expect a newcomer to go out and play the role of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played in the World Cup,” KL Rahul said at the pre match Press Conference.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had an exceptional ODI World Cup. While Kohli was the highest run getter, the Indian skipper was second highest on the list. KL Rahul has made it clear that there aren’t any high expectations from the newcomers. Nor do they expect the youngsters to perform like the dynamic duo.
“It will be too soon, and you have to give them time to adjust, and there will be no pressure from my side,” KL Rahul added. KL will be leading the Indian contingent in the ODI series and he has assured that the players will be given time to adjust for the same.
