Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
KL Rahul made his IPL debut in 2013 with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), his home city team. Although he played only one season with RCB, he managed to score 132 runs in 5 matches. His performances showed glimpses of his potential, but he was soon picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the next auction.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
In 2014 and 2015, KL Rahul played for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He played 20 matches across two seasons, scoring 308 runs with a highest score of 462. While his contributions were steady, he didn’t make a significant impact.
Return to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
KL Rahul returned to RCB in 2016 and had a breakthrough season. He scored 397 runs in 14 matches, including a high score of 68, and helped RCB reach the final. His performances earned him a spot back in the RCB squad for the 2017 season, but he missed the entire season due to a shoulder injury.
Punjab Kings (PBKS)
In 2018, KL Rahul was bought by the Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab) for ₹11 crore. He had a stellar season, scoring 659 runs in 14 matches with a highest score of 95, winning the Orange Cap for the most runs in the season. He continued his impressive form in the following seasons, scoring 593 runs in 2019 and 670 runs in 2020. Rahul was appointed as the captain of PBKS in 2020.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
In 2022, KL Rahul was picked up by the newly formed Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for ₹17 crore. He was appointed as the captain and led the team to the playoffs in their debut season. Rahul continued his consistent run scoring, amassing 616 runs in 2022 and 274 runs in 2023.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
During the mega auction of the IPL 2025, KL Rahul was acquired by Delhi Capitals for ₹14 crore. This marked a new chapter in his IPL journey as he joined the Delhi-based franchise, bringing his wealth of experience and leadership to the team
