After a few days of rest at home in Bengaluru, Rahul will begin rehabilitation at the NCA. If everything goes right, he may make a comeback in the Asia Cup in late August.

“He will be resting for a few days and then his physical rehabilitation will start at the NCA. That will take a few weeks before he starts with his regular net session and let’s see if he can make a comeback in the Asia Cup. But that could be a touch and go,” a BCCI source told PTI.

KL Rahul himself gave an official update on his fitness late on Wednesday. He wrote, “Hello everyone. It’s been a tough couple of weeks but the surgery was successful. I’m healing and recovering well. My road to recovery has begun. Thank you for your messages and prayers. See you soon 🏏♥️”

KL Rahul suffered a groin injury during training earlier this month, which ruled him out of the series against South Africa and the tour of England. The Indian vice-captain has had his fair share of injury troubles in the past couple of years and the Lucknow Super Giants captain has now sought the help of a specialist in Germany.

India are set to tour the West Indies for three ODIs and five T20Is in what is a crucial series for the T20 World Cup. Rahul will hope that he can recover well and be part of the team, being amongst India’s most valuable players across all formats.
