KL Rahul undergoes successful surgery in Germany –
A video went viral on Instagram on Saturday where Rahul was seen returning at an Airport as he successfully underwent sports hernia surgery. The star Indian batter was struggling for a while before he decided to head to Germany to have treatment.
Initially part of the South Africa’s tour of India, Rahul was supposed to lead the Indian side in the absence of Rohit Sharma. Rohit along with big name players like Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah were rested for the series.
Regular updates on Instagram-
Rahul regularly posted updates on his health on Instagram and would occasionally address his fans. In an Instagram post he wrote, “Hello everyone. It’s been a tough couple of weeks but the surgery was successful.”
He added that he is healing and recovering. “My road to recovery has begun. Thank you for your messages and prayers.”
What is Sports Hernia?
According to Dr Brahm Datt Pathak, Director General Surgery, Fortis Escorts Hospital Faridabad, sports hernia is a hernia of the lower-middle abdomen, near the pubic bone. It is mainly characterised by severe pain and a bulge in your groin area.

Rahul all but out of West Indies tour?-
- Although still not confirmed, Kl Rahul will probably will miss the upcoming India tour of West Indies.
- Out for two months, it is highly unlikely he will be available for the West Indies tour as the openers slot remains vacant for other players.
- With an eye on the T20 World Cup, Rahul will be determined to make the squad.
- His absence will open the doors for other players to claim a place in the Indian team as the likes of Mayank Agarwal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan who served as back-up to him, could get an extended run.
India’s tour of West Indies starts on July 22 as India play three ODIs and five T20Is, with no Test matches on the tour.
