KL Rahul holds India’s fort with resilient fifty in IND vs AUS 3rd Test

KL Rahul slammed his second fifty in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy

KL Rahul stands firm as India’s batting resistance to Australia in the IND vs AUS 3rd Test in Gabba. The star batter slammed a fine fifty to continue to chase down the total of the first innings set by the hosts. While KL Rahul remains rooted to the spot, the rest of the batters have failed to leave their mark in the game.

The India Cricket Team needed a special innings from one of their batters. And KL Rahul now fits the bill. While the rest of the top order crumbled like a pack of cards, it was the opener who remained firm from Day 3 and then went on to slam a fine fifty on Day 4 of the Gabba Test.

Lucky KL Rahul makes best use of Dropped catch

It is also safe to say that KL Rahul had it lucky. On Day 4, in the opening ball, he was given a lifeline. The Indian batter nicked away a catch on Mitchell Starc’s very first ball. The ball carried to the second slip only for Steve Smith to drop him. And KL Rahul didn’t waste a single opportunity after that.

He went on to punish the poor balls and left the good deliveries, staging India’s lone fight against the Australia Cricket Team.

Interestingly, KL Rahul is now India’s highest scorer in this edition of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Previously, it was Yashasvi Jaiswal who was leading the charts, But now with this resilient fifty, KL Rahul has now gone on to cross the 200-run mark.
