KKR’s good form becoming a bane for Rinku Singh! Southpaw needs to bat more in IPL ahead of T20 World Cup

Rinku has scored 107 runs in seven matches so far at an average of just over 26. He has only faced 67 balls so far.

Rinku Singh is among the many contenders fighting for a spot in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. The southpaw has consistently performed in IPL as well as for the Indian team in the last one year, and has been one of India’s best finishers. However, Rinku has not been getting too many balls in the ongoing IPL 2024. The lower order batter has been far less impressive in the ongoing tournament so far. Former Indian batter Aakash Chopra has expressed his wish to see Rinku Singh score runs consistently with the T20 World Cup fast approaching.

KKR top-order in immaculate form

Kolkata Knight Riders have been going strongly in the current IPL. KKR are 2nd on the table with a healthy run rate. Shah Rukh Khan’s team boasts of a strong batting line-up, and the good form of the KKR top-order has resulted in Rinku Singh getting less number of balls.

Rinku’s IPL stats

Rinku has scored 107 runs in seven matches so far at an average of just over 26. He has only faced 67 balls so far. But with T20 WC fast approaching, Chopra wants Rinku Singh to start a consistent run.

‘Rinku needs a consistent run of form’

Could this be Rinku’s match? Rinku’s fantastic avatar has not yet been seen because he isn’t getting that much batting. When he gets less batting, he gets stuck regarding how many deliveries he should play and how much he should hit. Since (Andre) Russell is playing well, no one is sending him up the order as well,” he said.

“He might get to bat less here as well. However, I am greedy that Rinku should get to bat and score runs. Since the World Cup is approaching, I want runs to continuously come from Rinku Singh’s bat. The number for which he will be fighting, Shivam Dube is already playing very well there. As much as I love Shivam Dube, I love Rinku Singh as much,” the former India opener added.
