Speaking about the first innings, David Willey picked up 2 wickets in 2 balls sending Venkatesh Iyer and Mandeep Singh back in the hut and finishing as the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/16. It was also a double-wicket maiden.
Karn Sharma then derailed the innings further and picked 2 in 2 balls sending Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Andre Russell on consecutive deliveries. Gurbaz played a special knock scoring his first ever fifty in the league finishing at 57 in 44 balls to hold the innings for the Knight Riders.
Shardul Thakur (68 off 29, 9 fours, 3 sixes) and Rinku Singh (46 off 33, 2 fours, 3 sixes) added 103 runs for the sixth wicket and brought the Knight Riders out of the shackles to push them past 200. The lord of the Knight Riders put the pressure on the bowlers for the first time and made full use of the opportunity.
