The uncertainty surrounding the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fixture in IPL 2025 has finally come to an end, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially confirming the rescheduling of the match. Originally slated for April 6, the high-profile encounter will now take place on April 8 at the same venue—Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
Why change in KKR vs LSG IPL 2025 fixture?
The change comes in response to a request from the Kolkata Police, who cited security concerns due to Ram Navami celebrations on April 6. With heavy police deployment required across the city for the festival, the authorities informed the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) that ensuring adequate security for the match would not be feasible.
Following discussions between the CAB and the BCCI, the decision was made to push the match to April 8, ensuring that the game could go ahead without any challenges. Earlier, there were reports that the KKR vs LSG match would be played in Guwahati, and not in Kolkata.
In an official statement, the BCCI confirmed the new schedule:
“Match No. 19 of the TATA IPL 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), originally scheduled for Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3:30 PM. This decision follows a request from Kolkata Police regarding the deployment of personnel across the city owing to festivities.”
This means that April 6 will now have only one game—Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Gujarat Titans at 7:30 PM—while April 8 will feature a double-header, with KKR vs LSG in the afternoon and Punjab Kings (PBKS) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the evening.
