KKR Playing XI vs DC, IPL 2021: Why should KKR pick a spinner or slower bowler?
- Sharjah pitch has been slower than expected with an average score of below 140.
- Spinners and slower bowlers have extracted more wickets than fast bowlers.
- Lockie Fergusen is known to bowl faster deliveries reaching 150kph at times. That won’t be helpful on such a slow wicket.
- Spinners have had field days at Sharjah in the two matches and they have troubled batters. Shakib Al Hasan, who is coming from a series where Bangladesh dominated Australia and New Zealand on slow pitches, he could be handy.
- His batting and bowling could be useful on such a slow track against DC.
- If Andre Russell is out of DC clash, KKR will need an all-rounder who can bat and Shakib Al Hasan could be the right candidate.
KKR Playing XI vs DC: Eoin Morgan seeks two answers – is Andre Russell fit to play? Should KKR pick an extra spinner?
KKR Playing XI vs DC, IPL 2021: While KKR will want to go unchanged and not disturb the combination that has given them success, Andre Russell’s injury complicates things. Lockie Fergusen isn’t a slow bowler and nor is Prasidh Krishna, who went for 22 in the 19th over. That took the match away from KKR. If Russell is not available, they will need a slower bowler and Shakib Al Hasan could be useful.
The two pitches that have been used in Sharjah so far have been heaven for spinners and slow bowlers and haven’t offered anything for the seamers or fast bowlers. In the two matches, the average score has been 140 and on the second pitch that goes down to 125. As Lockie Fergusen is one of the bowlers who love to bowl faster deliveries, KKR could pick a slower bowler or even a second spinner in Shakib Al Hasan.
