KKR Playing XI vs RCB: Captain Ajinkya Rahane sacrifices opening slot for Sunil Narine

Spencer Johnson is making his debut and surprisingly, Sunil Narine is slotted at number six.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have decided to hand Spencer Johnson his debut cap for the franchise against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 opener at the Eden Gardens. Newly appointed KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane lost the toss and was put in to bat first by Rajat Patidar.

Johnson was presented the cap by Sunil Narine before the toss, and Rahane later confirmed that two more pacers, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora, will play. As for the spinners, they had Narine and Varun Chakaravarthy. Arora will come in as the impact substitute later while

“It’s an honour to lead this team. Our preparation has been good; the core group has been the same. Looking forward to batting well first and defending later on. It is all about giving the players the freedom and allowing them to play as a unit. We are playing 3 fast bowlers and 2 spinners,” Rahane said at the toss.
