After being dropped in the last game, Shardul Thakur is all set for a return to the playing XI against Chennai Super Kings. With conditions set to suit the pacers, Thakur could replace Kulwant Khejroliya, who struggled on his franchise debut for KKR. The India all-rounder’s presence adds far more batting depth and increases Nitish Rana’s options with the ball.
While Thakur returns there is still no place for Lockie Ferguson or Tim Southee. KKR are experimenting a two overseas opening pair, meaning their bowling has to be an all-Indian affair. Jason Roy did impress on his KKR debut and head coach Chandrakant Pandit would hope that Litton Das can soon follow suit.
However, the onus to stranglehold the opposition does fall on KKR”s spin trio. Varun Chakravarthy is enjoying a dream comeback season and will have the support of Sunil Narine and Suyash Sharma at the Eden Gardens. If the track assists turn, Nitish Rana and Anukul Roy could also make their play as they did in Delhi.
