Gambhir douses fire on Chandrakant Pandit ‘militant coach’ issue, says ‘have no clue about it’

KKR will look to bounce back to winning ways when they host LSG on 14th April at Eden Gardens

Kolkata Knight Riders mentor Gautam Gambhir has shared insights into his rapport with the team’s head coach, Chandrakant Pandit, following recent criticism from former KKR star David Wiese, who described Pandit’s coaching style as “militant.”

Transitioning from his role as the mentor of LSG in IPL 2021 and 2022, Gambhir assumed the same position with KKR this season. Reflecting on his brief tenure alongside the esteemed Indian domestic circuit coach, Gambhir expressed ignorance regarding any negative feedback.

“I have not heard about any criticism. It’s been early days, and my working relationship with him has been really very good. Hopefully, it will continue that way. Whatever has been said, I have no clue about it.” said Gautam Gambir as per Times Now.

Pandit’s coaching tenure has been marked by success, notably guiding Mumbai, Vidarbha, and Madhya Pradesh to triumphs in the Ranji Trophy, with his association with KKR beginning in the 2023 season.

It has been really good working with him: Gautam Gambhir

Addressing concerns raised by Wiese regarding Pandit’s coaching approach, Gambhir offered a contrasting perspective, emphasizing the positive working relationship he has experienced thus far. Dismissing rumors of criticism, Gambhir highlighted the early stages of their collaboration as promising. He praised Pandit’s track record in first-class cricket, attributing his appointment to his prior accomplishments.

“I think he has been pretty successful in first-class cricket, and that is the reason why he has got this opportunity. So far, it has been really good working with him,” said Gambhir.

Echoing Gambhir’s sentiments, KKR’s star all-rounder Andre Russell also voiced support for Pandit, commending his coaching contributions. KKR will look to bounce back to winning ways when they host LSG on 14th April at Eden Gardens.
