KKR has gone a step further and played their first intra-squad match — between Team Gold and Team Purple, led by Venkatesh Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane, respectively. The match saw Purple beat Gold by six wickets, chasing down a massive target of 216.. which was later revised to 250 and, then 280.

Team Purple first went past the finish line in only 15.5 overs, and then chased down 250 as well, with 13 deliveries to spare, but ended on 277, and lost by two runs, and couldn’t cross the final hurdle. Earlier, Team Gold has scored a massive 215/4 in 20 overs, with Venkatesh Iyer scoring 61 and Luvnith Sisodia scoring 46.
Coming to the Purple’s chase again, it was complete dominance by Andre Russell and Rinku Singh, and Quinton De Kock. Just to break down their innings, Dre Rus went berserk with 64 not out, Rinku smashed 79 not out, while De Kock ended his innings with 52.

Meanwhile, KKR start their campaign against RCB in IPL 2025 opener on March 22 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. One of the biggest challenges for Knight Riders will be to fill in the gap that has been left, after Shreyas Iyer was let go. Now Rahane has taken over the captaincy, and will have to regroup the new-look side.
