KKR were handed their third defeat of IPL 2024. Punjab Kings roared back to form to chase down a mammoth total of 262 runs at Eden Gardens. Kolkata Knight Riders fielding coach Ryan Ten Doeschate claimed that his bowlers will have to come up with unique way to stop the batters.
It is safe to say that the IPL 2024 has been a batting paradise. Teams have been scoring 200+ runs with relative ease. And a testament for the same was Punjab Kings creating history by registering the successful run chase in the history of T20 cricket.
“The way batting his going on in the competition, there is an element of fear. We need to find ways to stop batters from taking the game away like that. We prepared for Jonny Bairstow. He had plans but couldn’t execute it all the time,” said Ryan Ten Doeschate after the game.

Jonny Bairstow hammered an unbeaten knock of 108 runs from 48 deliveries. The English power hitter slammed 8 fours and 9 sixes to seal the game for Punjab Kings. “Jonny Bairstow played a great knock, but I am sure the bowlers could have done a better job,” Doeschate added.
Is Bowling a Concern for KKR?
KKR’s fielding coach has dismissed the idea of bowling being a concern for them. Though predominantly, batting has been the strong point for the Kolkata outfits, KKR stands second on IPL 2024 Points Table with 5 wins from 8 games.
“I wouldn’t say serious concern, we have got 5 wins from 8 games. We have been scoring runs. And bowling round the competition, guys are taking a long time to figure this. Bowling with the new ball, with the new seam in Kolkata is really tough. We need to find out a way to counter this,” Doeschate concluded.
