The Indian Premier League governing council has accepted the Kings XI Punjab management’s request to reschedule their home games at Mohali.
The KXIP had a genuine logistics concern as the Chandigarh airport will be closed for all commercial operations between May 12 and May 31. In wake of the situation, the KXIP had urged the BCCI to reschedule at least two of their ‘home’ games at Mohali.
The IPL GC has agreed to swap the dates of KXIP’s home matches between Mohali and Indore, respectively the home and the second home venues for KXIP. Now, the KXIP will play their first three home games at Mohali (in April) and the last four games in Indore (in May).
The KXIP will now have games on April 15, 19 and 23 at Mohali instead of Indore. Indore stands to get an additional game in this rescheduling. The City of Holkers will benefit from the arrangement as it now plays host to four matches – on May 4, 6, 12 and 14.
“There were logistical difficulties that teams would have encountered had KXIP played their home games in Mohali in May. Therefore the IPL Governing Council has decided that the dates will be swapped and Indore will now host all their matches in May,” acting BCCI president and IPL governing council member CK Khanna had told PTI.
