What RCB managed to achieve on Sunday what truly special. Something that had never happened in the 15 years of the franchise history, transpired at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, as Smriti Mandhana’s RCB lifted the WPL 2024 trophy for the very first time. And no wonder, it was a joyous occasion for not only the women’s team, but the men’s team as well.
For the record, RCB, the men’s team, had finished as the runners-up, three times in the IPL. Once in 2009, then in 2011, with the last instance coming in 2016. Former RCB skipper Virat Kohli was a part of all those campaigns, when the team couldn’t cross the finish line. So when the women’s team lifted the trophy, it was indeed a special moment for Kohli as well, who has been with the team since the first edition.
So as soon as the team won, Kohli got on a video call with team skipper Smriti Mandhana, to congratulate her, as well as the entire team. The moment was caught on the camera, that made the moment even more special.
