One of the most pertinent questions at this moment is who will keep wickets for India in the ICC T20 World Cup? There are as many as 6 contenders for the spot. And among those 6 only two can make the final cut. Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are most likely to make the India Squad for the T20 World Cup.
Selection Dilemma for Team India
Imagine 6 candidates fighting for one spot, each having their own pros and cons. It will be a very difficult task choosing the perfect man. That is the case with the Indian Cricket Team right now. The T20 World Cup is less than 2 months away and the keeper’s spot remains open for grabs.
KL Rahul, Jitesh Sharma, Dhruv Jurel, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are fighting for the spot. But out of these 6, only Pant and Samson are highly likely to make the cut.
Pant or Samson? Or both?
Rishabh Pant since his comeback to IPL 2024 has been good. He was rusty with the bat in the opening 2 matches. But the destructive southpaw roared back to form with some big knocks including 2 fifties. While keeping for Delhi Capitals he has been in top form.
The DC skipper hasn’t shown any signs of fatigue or weakness since his comeback to cricket. And thus he strongly leads the lines in getting a chance in the team.
On the other hand, the player who has impressed everyone the most is Sanju Samson. The Rajasthan Royals skipper has promoted himself up the order at number 3. Ditching the role of an anchor, he is now the enforcer. With 3 fifties under his belt, he has accumulated 264 runs in 6 games. He is currently 3rd in the most runs scored race, just below Virat Kohli and Riyan Parag.
With the two players performing at the top level, it is a big threat for the others who are also in hunt for the keeper’s spot.
