The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), owned by Kaviya Maran, thrashed the Mumbai Indians (MI) in a dominant display. The Orange Army demolished MI as they hammered a record 277/3 in the first innings before winning their first IPL 2024 encounter.
It was a phenomenal batting display by Hyderabad as they not only put on a special show in front of their home fans but took a massive toll on MI bowlers. It was always going to be an improbable task for the visitors. However, they did well to manage post up 246/5, thus reducing their loss margin only to 31 runs.
Interestingly, not only did SRH register a convincing victory, but they also witnessed the team’s owner, Kaviya Maran, erupt in celebration in the stands. Maran, known for her passionate support of the franchise, was spotted shaking a leg with joy as SRH dominated the match. Videos of her celebration are already going viral on social media, with fans reveling in her infectious enthusiasm.
SRH vs MI records the highest T20 match aggregate score
It was indeed a record-breaking evening in Uppal, with the recently concluded becoming the T20 match with the highest aggregate score. SRH and MI combinedly scored as many as 523 runs across the 40 overs of the game. While SRH clobbered 277/3, the five-time champions made 246/5.
Previously, the record of the highest aggregate score was held by South Africa (259/4) and the West Indies (258/5) during the second T20I in March 2023, when both the teams together notched up 517 runs.
