Karnataka cricketer Hoysala K, who was participating at The Aegis South Zone tournament, passed away due a cardiac arrest, during the match. As per various reports, the unfortunate incident occurred after the match between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, at the RSI ground in Bengaluru.
Hoysala, while going out for dinner with teammates, collapsed, and couldn’t be revived. Even though prompt treatment was administered, all the efforts of the on-site doctors went in vain. The reports further suggest that he was taken to the Bowring Hospital.
Dinesh Gundu Rao, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of Karnataka, offered his condolences on social media. He wrote, “Saddened to hear about the sudden demise of Karnataka’s emerging cricketer, fast bowler K. Hoysala, during the Aegis South Zone Tournament. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends in this hour of grief. Recent incidents of youth succumbing to cardiac arrest underscore the importance of health awareness and the need for us to be vigilant about cardiac health.”
Participation at Karnataka Premier League
Hoysala was a known bowler within the state, and had played for Bellary Tuskers and Shivamogga Lion in the KPL until 2018. In his last match too, he contributed in Karnataka’s win by scoring 13 in 13, and picking up a wicket. They defended a total of 173, securing the win by one run.
