Well, it looks like the Western Australia newspaper is leaving no stone unturned on launching scathing attacks on Virat Kohli. It was not long ago when numerous media publications labelled the Indian veteran as “King.” But following the “shoulder barge” incident, the same king has turned into a joker! It would be fair to say that nothing has gone right for Kohli in the ongoing Boxing Day Test match in Melbourne. He poked a 19-year-old in front of a jam-packed MCG but failed to reply the jeers with his bat, leading him to get trolled in the Australian newspapers once again after Day 2.
Australian media continues to attack Virat Kohli
Following Kohli’s physical altercation with Sam Konstas, the West Australia newspaper went helter-skelter with their attack on Kohli, labelling him a clown. Well, they hoped for Kohli not to respond with his performance and unfortunately for India, it panned out the same way. Kohli played so well for the 85 balls he faced before he jumped the gun on his upsetting defence outside off-stump. Kohli was even involved in an unwanted run-out that ended Yashasvi Jaiswal’s (82) stay at the crease. When Kohli was heading back to his dugout, he exchanged a few words with fans who didn’t miss a beat to jeer Kohli up.
Owing to this, the Australian media have found their gold plan again. After a pathetic show of an act, the Western Australian newspaper is planning to once again put the word “clown” before Kohli’s name. The headline of his feature is “Karma,” signifying that Kohli’s wrongdoing (shoulder-barging Konstas) led him to a horror show at MCG.
Kohli vs Konstas: What happened?
The incident occurred after the 10th over of the morning session when Kohli and Konstas were involved in a physical bump near the pitch. Konstas, who had turned from the crease and was heading towards the other end, crossed paths with Kohli, who appeared to veer off course and walk directly towards him while tossing the ball in his hand. The two collided, exchanging heated words immediately after. The situation escalated until Australian opener Usman Khawaja and on-field umpire Michael Gough stepped in to calm things down. Following the day, Kohli received a demerit point and got fined 20% of his match fee.
