Karachi Stadium supervisor gives big update on work progress for Champions Trophy, accuses PCB..

PCB was supposed hand over the Champions trophy stadiums by Dec 25, but has been consistently missing the deadlines for this.

Day by day, Pakistan and PCB continue to suffer a great deal of embarrassment. The board has not announced the Pakistani squad for the Champions Trophy, and the renovation works for all the stadiums — Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi — is far from complete. Now, the new deadline for the stadium renovations is set at Jan 31.

PCB Continues to Miss Stadium Deadlines

As per a report in PTI, the Karachi stadium supervisor has accused PCB of not providing the equipment and clearances — leading to delay in completion of the project. The first deadline for the completion was set at Dec 30, then at Jan 25. Meanwhile, the Champions Trophy is set to start at Feb 19.

The in charge, Bilal Chohan, cited an example, as to how PCB has been delaying the work. He went on to reveal how the panels were to be installed in the stadium, and got the shipment late on Sunday, from the Karachi port. “These are the kind of things we are dealing with, but sometimes it’s sad to see people bashing us,” complained Chohan, as per PTI.

But then PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has claimed, that all the three stadiums will be completed in time. What adds to PCBs trouble is that, these three stadiums also have to host a tri-series between New Zealand, South Africa and Pakistan from Feb 8 to 14.

“Look, the stadiums will be in a shape to host matches but the question is the PCB has promised everyone a world-class experience at these renovated venues for the Tri-series and Champions Trophy and whether they can deliver on that promise remains to be seen,” a source, who is following the construction work, was quoted as saying by PTI.
