Former India all-rounder Kapil Dev is being tipped to be named to the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators to run and govern the Board of Control for Cricket in India. He might join the CoA as the third member along with chief Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji.

The Supreme Court-appointed amicus Gopal Subramanium will reportedly appeal to the apex court during the BCCI case hearing today (Thursday) for appointment the third member to the Committee of Administrators.

The two-member CoA – Chief Vinod Rai and Diana – over the past few months has been at loggerheads over the crucial issues like the handling of the “differences” between women’s national team captains Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur, appointment of women’s national team coach, and suspension of Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul over their sexist remarks in the Koffee with Karan show.

The differences between the duo has put the BCCI functioning in a disarray in the absence of an elected, fully-powered executive to run and govern cricket world’s richest body.

Even as there is no official confirmation, Kapil is reportedly tipped to be recommended as the candidate for the position of the third member of the CoA.

Amicus Subramanium will also request the SC to note that a member of the CoA cannot be part of the BCCI in the future.

National daily, Times of India had reported sources close to Rai as saying that “it is imperative that a CoA member bears in mind that he or she cannot use the present chair to their advantage for future benefits. This needs to be highlighted”.

Kapil Dev has been instrumental in selection of WV Raman as the coach of the women’s national cricket team. He was part of the three-member selection committee along with   Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy.

The legendry all-rounder has played for India in 131 Tests and 225 One-day Internationals, accounting for an enviable 434 wickets and 5,248 runs in Tests and 253 ODI wickets and 3,783 runs.
