It was a dream debut for Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a sensational century in IND vs WI 1st Test in Dominica. The 21-year-old opener etched his name into the record books with a sensational 171 on his Test debut. While Jaiswal’s magnificent innings received applauds from all over the world, his family, in Thane, Maharashtra, experienced a mixture of emotions.
Jaiswal’s family couldn’t watch his historic knock due to a few reasons. While Jaiswal was playing a remarkable knock in Dominica, his family was shifting and settling into a new 5-BHK flat. Meanwhile, Jaiswal’s father couldn’t watch his son’s innings as he was on the Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage.
However, the family members closely followed Yashasvi’s knock on their phones and felt proud of their son’s incredible achievement.
In an interview with Indian Express, Jaiswal’s brother, Tejsvi, expressed the family’s happiness over Jaiswal’s historic knock.
He said, “It was a proud moment for us, he has been working hard for this for so long. My father has gone for Kanwar Yatra, and had prayed for Yashasvi. My brother is the quiet one in the family, he is too focused on his game.”

Jaiswal was adjudged Man of the Match for his brilliant knock as India registered a convincing win in the 1st Test. Expressing his delight at scoring a century on his debut, Jaiswal acknowledged the motivation and guidance provided by captain Rohit Sharma.
“We spoke a lot. All the time, he (Rohit bhai) kept telling me from where do I get my runs from, and how to negotiate the bowlers.”
“Before the game also there was a lot of discussion. He told me ‘You have to do it, you are the only person’, I kept thinking about that and how I can get my runs. I’ve learnt a lot from this game, hope to continue. It makes a big difference when your legendary players in the team talk to you, I try to pick their brains. We (Rohit bhai and I) had a good communication going”, Jaiswal said after the game.
Apart from Jaiswal, Ravichandran Ashwin was also the star for Team India as the veteran spinner picked 11 wickets in the match to help Men in Blue register a comfortbale win.
