Kanpur’s very own Kuldeep Yadav shunned, Rohit Sharma goes with unchanged XI in 2nd Test

This is India's 3rd match at the Green Park since Kuldeep made his debut in March 2017. Unfortunately, Kuldeep hasn't played on his home ground.

Heartbreak for Green Park Stadium, Kuldeep Yadav won’t feature in the India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test. The Kanpur boy hasn’t played an international match on his home ground once in his career. One ODI and two Tests (including this one) have been played in Green Park, but Kuldeep has failed to make the team sheet.

Weather hurts Kuldeep Yadav

Having won the first Test in Chennai by 280 runs, captain Rohit Sharma didn’t feel the need to change the winning lineup. Of course, pitch and the weather played a major factor as well. “The pitch seems a bit soft, so we have to make early inroads, and we want our three seamers to make use of it,” the Indian captain said after winning the toss and electing to bowl first.

There were two options of pitches in Kanpur. One would aid pacers, and the other would be better for spinners. No decision was made regarding which surface will be used until yesterday, according to assistant coach Abhishek Nayar. But the weather, which hasn’t been great since yesterday, basically made the choice.

Rain is predicted to fall on the first three days of the India vs Bangladesh 2nd Test, and interruptions are expected. Clouds and wet conditions won’t help the spinners anyway, so a pace-friendly pitch certainly suits Team India more.

Plan Perth

Plan Perth is something we mentioned when Team India opted for a 3-man pace attack in Chennai. They went against the norm and chose a pace-friendly surface instead of a traditional spinning one in MA Chidambaram Stadium. The main goal is to win in Australia, so pacers are being brought into the game. One has to speculate that this happening twice can’t be a coincidence.

Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah: we might see them in Perth on November 22. Pace will rule the roost Down under, and it seems that’s why Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir are using surfaces that assist pacers in India, which are unlike the pitches rolled out for the last 5-6 years at home.
