Kane Williamson unlikely for remainder of NZ vs PAK T20Is, coach says Tests are priority

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson retired hurt halfway through the 2nd NZ vs PAK T20I at Hamilton on Sunday

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is highly unlikely to feature in the remainder of the NZ vs PAK T20Is, head coach Gary Stead informed. Williamson retired hurt halfway through the 2nd T20I after complaining of tightness in his hamstring in the right leg. Eventually, he was ruled out of taking the field for the rest of the game.

No more Williamson for NZ vs PAK T20Is?

As per Stuff, Stead said that Williamson was highly unlikely to play at Christchurch against Pakistan. The Kiwi skipper is expected to undergo scans on Monday, whose results will probably be out by Tuesday. The Kiwi coach, however, noted that the upcoming Test series was going to the priority for the side and Williamson.

“With the test matches so close as well, which probably in the big scheme of things, in the short term for us, has a higher priority, I think it’s likely we’ll try and make sure that he is right for that,” he said.
