The upcoming three-match T20 series against Bangladesh, will commence on December 27 in Napier, New Zealand. Kane Williamson is set to lead a relatively stable T20 squad, marking the team’s last international series for the year. Notably, Rachin Ravindra, the standout performer in the recent WC in India, has been excluded from the 13-man squad.
While Ravindra showcased his prowess as New Zealand’s top-scorer in the one-day tournament, he finds himself on the fringes of both the Test and T20 sides.
In addition to Ravindra, hard-hitting all-rounder Josh Clarkson, and potential debutants Will O’Rourke and Devon Conway have also been omitted from the T20 squad. The T20 opener Conway is on a rest period, while newcomers Ben Sears and all-rounder Jimmy Neesham make the cut.
The series holds significance as it serves as the team’s preparation for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for the West Indies and the United States in the coming year. Regular T20 opener Devon Conway and several players recovering from injuries, including Michael Bracewell, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry, and Henry Shipley, were not considered for selection.
