South African ace cricketer Kagiso Rabada has scored big off-field by signing an endorsement deal with luxury watchmaker Tag Heuer.

The 22-year old fast bowler has been signed by the Swiss luxury watchmaker as a ‘friend of the brand’, which means he will feature in social media campaigns and editorials, as well as making event appearances.

Rabada will join the elite league of Tag Heuer ambassadors that includes the likes of Portuguese soccer great Cristiano Ronaldo, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Supermodel Bella Hadid, New Zealand rugby legend Dan Carter and Chris Hemsworth aka “The Thor.”

“I’m really excited to be a part of the Tag Heuer family. This is a great recognition. Tag Heuer is represented by some of the world’s greatest athletes, many of whom I am a great admirer of, which leaves me even more thrilled to partner with such an iconic brand,” said Rabada.

The young Proteas profile has risen astronomically in recent years with consistent performances for the national side across all three formats. The Johannesburg native has already taken more than 100 wickets in Test cricket, and his recent performances against Australia saw him bumped up to number one in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Test bowling rankings.

Rabada was bought by Delhi Daredevils for ₹4.2 crores for the 2018 season of the Indian Premier League. He was however ruled out before the start of the campaign owing to back injury. Ranked 173rd on the InsideSport MONEYBALLRabada has earned ₹5 crore for his IPL contract with the Delhi Daredevils last season.
