England cricket team’s Jos Buttler is expected to continue as the side’s skipper for the white-ball formats of the game. The keeper-batter’s captaincy has been under review after England’s debacles at the ODI and T20 World Cup. Earlier, reports claimed that Buttler was likely to be stripped off captaincy while a new coach was expected to be named soon in place of Mathew Mott.
Buttler to stay on as England skipper
According to a report from The Telegraph, Buttler is all set to continue as England’s captain. He has, however, reportedly expressed his desire to have a coach with more playing experience and someone who has a grasp of modern cricket.
Former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara is a frontrunner to replace Mott. Michael Hussey, alongside Flintoff and Jonathan Trott, are other contenders for the position.
When will England get its new coach?
The ECB is expected to announce Mott’s successor ahead of England’s next international white-ball assignment, a home series against Australia in September.
