England’s T20I skipper Jos Buttler has departed for the UK ahead of the IPL 2024 Playoffs. The RR batter is among the first of the English batters to leave the ongoing IPL in order to head home to prepare for the T20 World Cup 2024. Rajasthan Royals are yet to cement their spot for the playoffs and have two games left in the league stage of the tournament.

As per earlier reports, all England players taking part in the IPL will leave India by May 19 and will miss the playoffs. Liam Livingstone was among the first to head back home after PBKS were knocked out of the tournament.
“It’s difficult for all teams when they plan for the whole tournament with specific players in mind but then the respective cricket boards recall them for a bilateral series. We are trying to persuade the ECB to extend the stay. And we are hopeful that some of the players will be available for the playoffs stage,” a senior BCCI official had told InsideSport earlier.
