Unlike other England players, Jonny Bairstow will honour his contract with Punjab Kings. The England wicketkeeper-batter will join PBKS on March 18-19 and will be available for full IPL 2024 season despite playing all the IND vs ENG Test matches. There have been as many as four pullouts from England players including Harry Brook this time with their packed schedule away from home.
“Bairstow is expected to arrive in India on March 18 or 19 and will be available for the team’s first game against Delhi Capitals on March 23,” said an IPL source.

Jonny Bairstow returned home after completing IND vs ENG Test series that England lost. However, he is not a part of England & Wales Cricket Board’s workload management scheme ahead of T20 World Cup.

However, Bairstow will aim for redemption after failing in the IND vs ENG Test series. Bairstow only scored 238 runs at an average of 23.80 in 10 innings. He failed to score even a half-century the whole series.
Bairstow had to pull out of IPL 2023 after he suffered a freak injury while playing golf. But despite that, PBKS retained him for IPL 2024.
