England coach Brendon McCullum heaps praise on batter Jonny Bairstow despite his poor run in IND vs ENG series. McCullum opines that Bairstow showed signs of his usual self in the game at Ranchi. In 7 innings so far, he has scored just 140 runs. Bairstow will play his 100th Test at Dharamshala.
Bairstow gets McCullum’s backing ahead of IND vs ENG 5th Test
“It’s be really emotional for him. Everyone knoes Jonny’s story. He’s quite an emotional character at times and big milestones like that do mean a lot to him. (In this match) he walked taller, looked stronger, had that presence and that real Jonny Bairstow swagger to him. When he has that, you kind of feel he’s never too far away,” McCullum told the UK media.
“I don’t have concerns over him. I’m not blind but he’s done so well for us and he’s had such an impactful career,” McCullum had said earlier.
“We know a top-quality Jonny Bairstow is as good as anyone in any conditions so we’ve got to keep on giving him confidence and block out a lot of the external noise. I’m sure Jonny will come good,” McCullum adds.
